OUR HISTORY
LAFAYETTE PIGGLY WIGGLY
Originally opened in 1974 as Reese Big Star, we have catered to the Lafayette community for over 45 years. Since then we have expanded and upgraded our store twice to better serve our loyal customers.
In 1986, we adopted the name Piggly Wiggly. In keeping with family tradition, Mike’s son, Todd Reese went to work for his Dad in 1996. Todd owned 3 stores in Nashville from 1999-2016. In 2016, Todd purchased the Lafayette store from his dad and continues serving the community.
Today, we continue to serve our customers with a tremendous variety of grocery items, fresh-cut meat, and garden-fresh produce. We strive to make your shopping experience a pleasure and we greatly appreciate your business! Mike and Todd Reese appreciate all customers and current and former employees who have helped us over the years!
HARTSVILLE PIGGLY WIGGLY
In 1939, Bailey Reese and Allan Duncan went into business on River St. in downtown Hartsville. Not long after, Mr. Duncan was called to serve in WWII. Edwin Reese bought Mr. Duncan’s half interest. Edwin Reese was then called to serve and his parents ran the store while Edwin served in WWII. Upon Edwin’s return from his service, he owned and operated Reese’s Food Market.
In 1962, Edwin moved to Highway 25 and built a new store (the present location of Reese’s Piggly Wiggly). Twenty-four years later Edwin and Dale Reese decided to sell the store to Edwin’s other son Mike Reese. Previous owners had already renovated the store but Mike expanded and remodeled the store again to what it looks like today.
Bailey, Edwin, Mike, and Dale Reese have worked hard to maintain a supermarket that proudly serves the citizens of Hartsville and Trousdale County. The Reese family appreciates all of their former employees who have helped them over the years.
